Ribafreixo Wines launched the Herdade do Moinho Branco Antão Vaz 2018, a Limited edition of 3696 bottles that arose from the need to create a top white wine that complemented the premium brand Herdade do Moinho Branco, which already existed in the red version Alicante Bouschet.
Tasting complex, top wines is always a pleasant exercise, and the Herdade do Moinho Branco Antão Vaz 2018 is a good example of this. A white born in the shade of the Serra do Mendro, having been influenced by the terroir of Vidigueira, which there assume a differentiating profile. A unique profile, also possible due to the concentration of grapes from old vineyards, and a careful winemaking in new French oak barrels of 500 liters. In the aroma is citrus and mineral, complemented with tropical notes and the wood where it aged. The wood is well integrated and is very complex and unctuous on the palate. The wine can be found in selected wine cellars and reference restaurants.
However, despite the focus being on the launch of the new wine of the queen grape variety of Vidigueira – Antão Vaz – the red of Alicante Bouschet surprised and stood out in the race. Obviously, and despite the distinctive styles, the red stood out for its remarkable balance, not least because it is from the 2015 harvest, having helped the years to liqueve edges. Even so, it is still a wine of great structure and complexity, still with much to give. It's all there: The fruit, the balsamic, the cocoa, the wood well integrated, the freshness of the mouth, the velvety surroundings, complemented by an excellent finish. With limited edition to 3804 bottles, it is a red of choice still with much to give. And, like your white brother, it can be found in the same places already mentioned.
