The most recent investment in wine tourism in Quinta de Soalheiro, in the Vinho Verde region, is Casa das Infusões. A rustic accommodation, integrated in the beautiful landscape of Melgaço.
In 1974, João António Cerdeira planted the first continuous vineyard in Alvarinho and, in 1982, created the first Alvarinho de Melgaço brand: Soalheiro. Over the years, new investments were made, and the cellar was improved and properly equipped. In the vineyard, the bet is on organic production, something that meets the philosophy that is practiced here, respect for the environment through protection of the ecosystem.
The most recent investment by the largest wine producer in Melgaço is this local accommodation house, which is perfectly integrated into a harmonious landscape where there is a vineyard, valley and mountain. The proximity of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, the discovery of the typical gastronomy of the Alto Minho region and the tasting of alvarinho and infusions, create the ideal environment to relax.
Casa das Infusões has three rooms with capacity for five people (one bedroom with a double bed, one with two single beds, and one with a single bed). The house has a rustic feel and is inspired by the plants that grow on the farm. Each room was named after aromatic herbs: Perpetual Red, Green Mint and Lavender. The house also has a living room, two bathrooms, an equipped kitchen, fireplace, heating, air conditioning, internet, cable TV and an outdoor space with a barbecue area. Breakfast, prepared with local products, is included. It includes the infusion-proof part of the Soalheiro Herbal Tea Selection collection.
The offer of wine tourism is completed with a revamped visit circuit, where the experience is mostly done outside. In the Soalheiro farm, you can also visit the vineyards and have a privileged contact with nature in a discovery of the terroir of the origin of Alvarinho - Monção e Melgaço.
The house is already open to the public and reservations can now be made through the website www.soalheiro.com/enoturismo. The whole experience is designed according to the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health and Tourism of Portugal, with Casa das Infusões awarded the ‘Clean & Safe’ certificate.
